Rondo Honored with The Knots “HALL OF FAME” Award

We received a tremendous honor this week!  The Knot is an online site that provides vendor information, reviews and ideas for every possible aspect of ones wedding day. Each year, this online wedding site holds a “best of weddings” competition.  Reviews from former clients are the way in which you accumulate votes.  We are so proud to have been a winner of the Best of Weddings for several years running.  This Hall of Fame trophy was awarded to us for having been voted the “BEST” by real newlyweds four or more times. While the trophy is lovely, its the fact that our former clients are so pleased with our string quartet services that they will take the time to write us a glowing review. Our 5 Star designation, the highest possible, is a point of pride for us.  We consider it an honor to be a part of any couples wedding day and work diligently to provide the best possible musical experience.  The music is a critical part of a wedding day and one that should hold memories for the newlyweds and guests alike. If you are looking for wedding music, check out any of our 70 reviews on The Knot.

Church Filled to Capacity with Family at Friends

IMG_1235Congratulations to Courtney and Bryce on their wedding day. The ceremony was held at Troy First United Methodist Church of Troy and led by the Reverend Hal Weemhoff. He is a great friend to our quartet and warmly recommends us to his couples. We’re very appreciative of his kind words as there is no better way to build your business than through the personal recommendation of others in the same line of work. He has a fine wedding coordinator working with him at Troy First. Lisa Head and her staff are efficient and a pleasure to work with. We appreciate their assistance with cues during the ceremony. A good wedding coordinator is a great thing!
Bryce and Courtney chose Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring for the bridesmaids processional and the well-known Pachelbel Canon in D for Courtney’s bridal processional. Rev. Weemhoff led a beautiful ceremony which included a Cording or Hand Fasting ceremony in place of the usual unity candle. Following the ceremony, we understand that a great reception was enjoyed by the guests at Detroit Athletic Club and included many late night bowling at the DAC’s basement lanes. We wish Bryce and Courtney the very best as they begin their lives together.

Kensington Wedding: Two Hearts That Beat as One

The Chapel of Kensington Church in Troy was the site of Stephanie and Chris’s wedding. Pastor Tom Donnelly officiated and it was clear that he had known the couple for quite some time. It was a God driven service with many personal touches. The couple chose romantic contemporary music for the prelude and we always enjoy that. It’s a fun change of pace to play Bittersweet Symphony, Viva la Vida, and Unchained Melody. Stephanie is a pianist and we had the unique opportunity to play one of her compositions for her own bridal processional. What a delight! It was majestic yet tender and completely fit the setting of Kensington’s Chapel. During the lighting of the unity candle, three friends, Jim, Tom, Julie and our violinist Allison, performed David Crowder’s “You’re Everything”. Julie sang beautifully and it was a tender moment in the service. Congratulations to Chris and Stephanie on their wedding and the exciting years to come.

Wedding and Cocktails at Troy Marriot

Congratulations to Bridget and Derek on their wedding Saturday at the Troy Marriot. The couple currently lives in New Jersey but chose to have their wedding back in their hometown. The officiant, a long time friend of the family, highlighted the couple’s history as friends since they were teenagers. We were honored to play the music for the ceremony including Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring for the mothers and bridal party. The bride processed to Kanon in D in a beautiful gown with silver detailing on the bodice. Bridget’s faith was evident in the presence of friends from her bible study who beautifully recited selected scripture passages.
Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception was held in the Mediterranean room. We played a wide variety of music from classical to contemporary including Smooth, Someone to Watch Over Me and Taylor Swift’s popular Love Story. We enjoyed the applause and kind comments of several guests near us. Thank you to those thoughtful guests! We want to extend a special thank you also to Annie and Mary of the Troy Marriot for their assistance throughout the evening. This is an elegant facility that was running several special events that evening and did a magnificent job coordinating it all. Best wishes to Bridget and Derek as they begin married life together.

50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

Congratulations to Gary and Carolyn who celebrated 50 years of marriage with their family and friends with an afternoon at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant in Troy last Saturday. The couple, their children, grandchildren and many friends all gathered for a wonderful meal and video presentation celebrating the couple’s long life together. We were honored to be a part of this momentous occasion by providing the dinner music that included a variety of opera favorites, Italian songs, hits from the 60’s and 70’s along with some sacred classics like Ave Verum and Panis Angelicus. The afternoon was highlighted with humorous anecdotes by family and a video that drew forth lots of laughter. It was a charming afternoon befitting a couple that has achieved a milestone worth celebrating!
