Age is Only A Number for This Fun Loving Couple

20161001_145206Patrice and David had a beautiful day for their outdoor wedding at the Dearborn Inn. The ceremony was held at the gazebo and officiated by Jeff Hamilton of Michigan Officiants. Patrice wore a beautiful gown and processed on her son’s arm to Kannon in D.  We played the popular and well known hits of the Beatles on the patio during cocktails and then moved into the Lincoln room for dinner. The speeches by family and friends demonstrated the “joie de vivre” this couple shares. Their first dance was to the song “Everlasting Love” and they showed off a terrific swing!  The guests enjoyed a lovely meal and finished the evening with dancing and music by a jazz trio.  There are many laughs ahead for this couple and we wish them the best.

A 21st Century Love Story: The Crazy Yank and The Crazy Brit

20160918_155248Congratulations to Carrie and Pat on their wedding at the Dearborn Inn on a beautiful late summer day. Tucked into the grounds of the Inn and surrounded by lush gardens, the gazebo was a beautiful place for an outdoor wedding. Officiant Denise Tucker of  Perfect Day Celebrations,  told Carrie and Peter’s story before conducting the hand fasting ceremony and exchange or rings. We’ve worked with Denise many times now and always enjoy the way she personalizes the ceremony to the couple.  It’s clear that she’s taken the time to know them. The couple chose an eclectic array of music for their ceremony. We played Debussy’s Clair de al Lune, O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini along with Here Comes the Sun and All You Need is Love by the Beatles. Douglas Rae read “Love” by Erich Fried which beings with the line, “I love you, not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you.”  It was clear that this couple shares a tender romance but also a great sense of humor. Denise spoke of penguins and implied that the cake would reflect this fun bit of the couple’s history. We send our best wishes to these self-proclaimed giggling and grinning geeks as they begin their married lives together.

Rondo Honored with The Knots “HALL OF FAME” Award

20160916_083458

We received a tremendous honor this week!  The Knot is an online site that provides vendor information, reviews and ideas for every possible aspect of ones wedding day. Each year, this online wedding site holds a “best of weddings” competition.  Reviews from former clients are the way in which you accumulate votes.  We are so proud to have been a winner of the Best of Weddings for several years running.  This Hall of Fame trophy was awarded to us for having been voted the “BEST” by real newlyweds four or more times. While the trophy is lovely, its the fact that our former clients are so pleased with our string quartet services that they will take the time to write us a glowing review. Our 5 Star designation, the highest possible, is a point of pride for us.  We consider it an honor to be a part of any couples wedding day and work diligently to provide the best possible musical experience.  The music is a critical part of a wedding day and one that should hold memories for the newlyweds and guests alike. If you are looking for wedding music, check out any of our 70 reviews on The Knot.

Celebratory Mood Livens Up Dearborn Inn Wedding

The Dearborn Inn has maintained a busy schedule for weddings this year.  A testimony to the classic elegance and outstanding service that they provide.  Julie and David chose to have their wedding celebration there earlier this month. Reverend Ralph Brown of Hope United Church  of Christ officiated the ceremony which included the reading “Love Is a Friendship Caught Fire” by Laura Hendricks and read by Kathleen Gaynor.  Julie and David chose great music for the cocktail hour and we had a few guests singing along.   Grandpa Gil stopped by and shared a few stories about Julie as a child.  His affection for his “adopted granddaughter” was clear as was the well wishes of their animated group of friends.  There was no doubt that this group was going to have a great time throughout the evening.  We wish them the best as they begin this new chapter as husband and wife.

“Made for the Movies” Wedding Day is All Beauty and No Beast

Congratulations to Sheila and Jason on their wedding this past weekend.  The ceremony was held at the Mary-Martha Chapel at Greenfield Village and officiated by Reverend Graham of “A Joyful Celebration Weddings”.  Rev. Graham spoke beautifully on the subject of love and incorporated several poems and quotes that were new to us yet very fitting for this couple.  It turns out that his colleague, Rev. Sherry wrote the wedding  specifically for Sheila and Jason by incorporating the couples life stories, conversations, lyrics from their selected songs, and quotes from people who are inspirational to them. She succeeded in creating a beautifully personal ceremony.  Jason and Sheila have a love of movies and Sheila especially has a strong connection to Beauty and the Beast.  So much so that she chose the music from the movie for her bridal processional.  In fact, all the songs we played for the guest seating and during the ceremony were from movies.  Several of the guests asked us about Glory Of Love from The Karate Kid Two and written by Chicago brass player, Peter Cetera.  We also included “Somewhere Out There” from American Tail for the bridesmaids, Hallelujah from Shrek for the unity candle and “When You Wish Upon A Star” from Pinocchio during the marriage license signing.  The couple recessed to “Pirates of the Caribbean”.  Appropriate to the theme, Sheila had a true Cinderella wedding gown, complete with the tiara.  Following the ceremony, the guests gathered at the Dearborn Inn for cocktails and dinner.  We continued with our movie themed music and hoped that Jason would be around for his favorite, Mission Impossible.  The guests were all having a good time and we were appreciative of all the kind comments.  It’s always a supreme compliment when a guest will take time to come and comment on how much they enjoyed the music.  Our job would be so much more challenging if not for the efficiency and competence of wedding coordinators.  We send our thanks to Cheryl LaPalm of Greenfield Village and Christie Dixon of the Dearborn Inn for their help with set up and cues.  A good coordinator is a wonderful asset to your event.  We send Jason and Sheila our best wishes!

Weather Changes Plans but Not the Celebration at Dearborn Wedding

Congratulations to Benjamin and Jennifer on their wedding at the Dearborn Inn.  The ceremony was originally intended to be outside at the gazebo but cold, wet weather changed the plans to an inside wedding.   The change did not dissuade any of the guests from celebrating though and everyone enjoyed the beautiful setting that was quickly assembled by Robert George, coordinator at Dearborn Inn and his efficient staff.  Miriam Jerris officiated the ceremony which included a reading of William Shakespeare Sonnet 116.  We played Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Air by Bach, Serenade by Haydn and the beautiful Pachelbel Canon for the wedding processional.  Jennifer and Benjamin were delightful to work with from the very beginning of our conversations.  They had a clear understanding of the focus for the day and didn’t allow the small changes to steal their joy.  We wish them both the very best as they begin their married life together.

Thank-you for your wonderful review!

My daughter was married June 25th 2011 at First English Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. Rondo String Quartet provided the music for the wedding ceremony. I cannot say enough good things about their kindness, their cooperation, their service, their punctuality, their professionalism, and above all, their beautiful, beautiful, music. Their music provided the perfect atmosphere of warmth, formality, and spirituality for my daughter’s wedding ceremony. Allison Rhoades and her string quartet made my daughter’s wedding a memorable affair that people are still talking about. Thank you. Allison and members of the Rondo String Quartet.

Sincerely,
Beverly Sutton

The Rondo String Quartet played for both our ceremony and part of our repception. They were extremely professional, helpful, and talented! They made my ceremony perfect, and we especially enjoyed the variety of music that they were able to play at our reception. Our guests were thoroughly entertained! I will recommend this quartet to everyone I know.
