String Quartets and the Weather

String quartets are a beautiful addition to an outside event.  There are a few things to be aware of, however, for the safety of the instruments and the quality of music the musicians are able to provide.  Because of the valuable wooden instruments, string quartets need to have full shade and no precipitation.  Often, a nice tree will work for shade if there is no other covering.  Do expect the quartet to sit where they will have the most shade possible.  You will need to have an alternate site in case of rain.  Your musicians (and other vendors) will need to know your final location decision with enough time to set up in the proper place.

Temperature is also a factor for a string quartet.  It needs to be warm enough for fingers to move quickly and accurately.  Usually, string quartets ask that it be at least around 60 degrees outside.
