Wedding at Historic Church in South Lyon

Congratulations to Brenna and Stephen on their wedding last week at First Presbyterian Church of South Lyon. This registered historic church has a long history in the South Lyon area. In 1831, six years before Michigan was admitted as a state, fifteen families met and the church became organized. After using several alternate locations, the first brick church was built at the present location in 1882.
Brenna and Stephen’s ceremony, officiated by Reverend Annemarie Kidder, highlighted the couple’s long history which dates back to high school. Their relationship was highlighted with humor and sentiment through the letters each wrote to the other which was read by the Reverend. The music the couple chose represented the romantic nature of the couple and included “My Heart Ever Faithful” by Bach, made famous in the movie “Australia”, “If With All Your Hearts” for the bridesmaids and “The Swan” by Saint Saens for the Unity Candle.
We play over fifty weddings a year and as such, see many dress styles and flowers. The bridesmaid’s dresses were particularly stunning. Flattering to all, the color was a royal blue which was brought out in the flowers. Calla lilies and blue bells sound simple yet were simply stunning!
It was obvious that this wedding had been anticipated by both families for quite some time. We wish the couple the very best as they begin their journey as husband and wife.
